A Parish for Every Person: Building Inclusive Communities in the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth

In every parish, a sense of community means that every individual feels they belong, that they are valued, and that, together, we share a faith committed to meeting each other’s needs. Personal Advocacy Service works with parishes across the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth to create communities that are welcoming, inclusive, and accessible for people with intellectual disabilities and their families.

By supporting inclusive practices, every parish has the opportunity to enrich its community and embrace all its members. We do this through training Parish Inclusivity Coordinators, providing inclusive resources, and offering Adapted Liturgies for all abilities.

Supporting Parishes to Build Inclusive Communities

Through a variety of resources and programs, we assist parishes in fostering spaces where people of all abilities and their families can connect, thrive, and contribute to parish life.

Parish Inclusivity Coordinators

We train parishioners to become Parish Inclusivity Coordinators, equipping them to support and advocate for families with disabilities within their local communities.

Adapted Liturgies at Morley and other Parishes

Once a month, our Morley Parish hosts an Inclusive Liturgy—a special Sunday Mass that welcomes people of all abilities, followed by a time of fellowship and morning tea. Click on the link below for adapted liturgies at other parishes.

Resources for Building Inclusive Parish Communities

We provide practical guides and resources to help parishes create more inclusive spaces. Small steps can make a big difference, and we are here to help parishes find meaningful ways to welcome every individual.

Sacramental Programs

We offer tailored sacramental programs to help individuals with intellectual disabilities prepare for Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.

Offer a SPRED Program at your parish

The SPRED Program pairs individuals with intellectual disabilities with friends who help them engage socially and spiritually within their faith community, at our Morley centre or a local parish.

Faith communities where
all thrive.

Delivering Joy, Dignity, and the Common Good in Every Parish

The power of inclusion brings joy, strengthens bonds, and upholds the dignity of each person. Our parish families and volunteers share the blessings of creating inclusive communities:
