Personal Advocacy Service began in 1989 to help families find spiritual and social support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Starting with the SPRED (Special Religious Development) program, we created small, faith-based groups in parishes where participants can make friends, grow spiritually, and feel welcomed.
Today, we offer the SPRED Program and other creative, social, and faith-focused programs in 11 locations. Each person is paired with a spiritual friend who offers one-on-one support, friendship and social outings, creating a joyful and inclusive community.

SPRED Program
Pairs a participant with intellectual disability (Friend) with a volunteer (Advocate) to join social activities and meet others in a nearby parish or our Morley centre.

Personal Advocacy Service is a registered NDIS provider in ‘Social and Community Participation.’ Our SPRED – Special Religious Development – Program is covered by NDIS.
Our annual SPRED program includes:
• 15 sessions (2.5 hours each),
• 4 social events (2.5 hours each), and
• 1 Annual Community Event and End of Year Mass (3.5 hours each).
Transport to all of the above outings is also included. The program has a maximum cost of $2,600 per year and you only pay for the sessions attended provided at least 24 hours notice is given.
