Archdiocesan Agencies

Personal Advocacy Service is part of the Archdiocese of Perth’s network of support agencies. Our programs are rooted in Catholic Social Teachings, focusing on social, economic, and ecological justice to assist vulnerable members of our community.

All Archdiocesan agencies share a mission to bring a Christ-centered, vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive approach to our work. Together, we aim to enrich the lives of those we serve and support.

Emmanuel Centre

Provide pastoral support to people with physical disabilities in the Archdiocese including:

Identity WA

Identitywa works in partnership with individuals and families to build a community where people with disabilities enjoy a fulfilled life.

Agencies providing Pastoral, Social and Economic Response

Aboriginal Catholic Ministry

The principal focus of the ministry’s work is the pastoral support to our Aboriginal people:

During hospital visits
When visiting family homes
Through our Funeral Ministry
In their preparation for the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation and First Communion and Confirmation.
By offering faith formation opportunities

Wherever possible we also endeavour to connect to the wider Aboriginal community, parishes and the Catholic Education School communities

Stella Maris Seafarers’ Centre

The Centre provides spiritual, social and material welfare for seafarers through:

Meet and greet seafarers in the inner harbour of Fremantle and provide them with a bus service to Stella Maris Centre or the City of Fremantle. This includes a return journey to the ship.
Providing assistance to seafarers who seek spiritual or sacramental services connecting them with local Catholic Churches.
Facilitating material needs such as phone cards or monetary exchange with localised services

The Shopfront

The Shopfront provides and offers mutual practical assistance and acts as referral to visitors in need, offering:

Weekday hospitality and lunch from 11.00am to 1.00pm at The Shopfront
Provision of emergency food hampers
Tuesday & Wednesday evenings a light meal and hospitality at St Mary’s Cathedral from 5pm to 6pm
Doctor (GP) on site each Tuesday to assist those in need.
Laundry service each Tuesday for those who are sleeping rough or who don’t have access to washing machines.

Catholic Prison Ministry

Catholic Chaplains visit prisoners throughout Western Australia, providing pastoral care and religious services.

Catholic Outreach

Catholic Outreach encourages and supports the development of care initiatives in parishes which enable volunteers to provide practical emergency short term support for people in need in their local community.

Daydawn Advocacy Centre

Advocacy and referral agency for Aboriginal People in the area of public housing, health and legal services.

Justice, Ecology and Development Office (JEDO)

With Catholic Social Teaching & Thought as our guide, JEDO defends individual Human Dignity, promotes Solidarity & fosters the Common Good, to cultivate personal & social responsibility; to stand with the marginalised & to actively safeguard the integrity of creation.

Western Australia Catholic Migrant and Refugee Centre (WACMRO)

WACMRO works with parishes and schools to raise awareness of the current reality of vulnerable, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD), migrant and refugee visaholders.

They provide parishes and schools with opportunities to assist vulnerable migrants and refugees. They also work with CALD persons having issues with their visa.

Catholic Bioethics Centre

Bioethicsperth is a service of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth, Western Australia, offering consultation, information, and research in ethical aspects of comp temporary health care practice and public policy.

Online and in-person services include confidential free personal or professional consultations, and on-call personal and clinical ethics conversations.

Catholic Youth Ministry

Catholic Youth Ministry is the official youth ministry agency in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Perth, assisting young people aged 13-30 to build a deep and lasting relationship with Jesus. The ministry want to accompany them in their faith journey as individuals, in communities, and help them discern their place in the Church and in the world.

They aim to develop and support Christ-centered youth leaders through resources and training, and inspiring them to build communities of faith.

Centre for Faith Enrichment

The Centre for Faith Enrichment is the official adult faith education agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth.

The centre offers daytime, evening and weekend courses on a wide range of topics at various locations throughout Perth and online. Topics include, but are not limited to, Theology, Scripture, Church history, the Sacraments, the lives of the Saints, Christian Anthropology, Christology Morality and more.

Centre for Life, Marriage and Family

The Centre for Life, Marriage and Family strives to strengthen the fabric of society by strengthening marriage and family, and building a Culture of Life.

The centre believes in the innate dignity of the human person – a core teaching of the Catholic Church; every person is born with God-given dignity, and nothing can change or remove that from us.

Centre for Liturgy

The Archdiocesan Centre for Liturgy provides formation and information for parish priests and other members of parish communities and church organisations on all things liturgical and supports parishes conducting the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults in order to enrich the spiritual life of the Catholic Church of Perth.

Centre for Christian Initiation and Liturgy

The Centre works to enable priests and parishes to be supported in worship, as well as through the ongoing provision of initial and ongoing formation to people as they deepen their relationship and encounter with Jesus through their experience of the fullness of our Catholic faith and tradition.
