For a second year in a row, we relocated to Willetton parish for our morning of Disability Awareness and Safeguarding Level One.

We were blessed to have not only a presenter from activ who works in the area of Disability Awareness but also a very confident, engaging young lady called Madi who gave us an insight into life with a disability. Madi was very fortunate to have a supportive school who tried hard to look beyond her disability to what she could do and were willing to enable her to have amazing experiences such as Outdoor Ed., even with the extra effort required to provide specialised equipment.

Marie reminded us of small things we could do in our own parishes to go beyond what Pope Francis labels ‘lip service’ to inclusion.

After morning tea, our second session was thrown open to parishioners to join as many were due to complete Safeguarding Level One.

We are very grateful to Thomas Law for presenting the session so we can strive to ensure our church is a welcoming and safe place for all: children as well as adults at risk.
