Rose Tricoli nominated for 2023 Catholic Social Services Volunteer of the Year for the Archdiocese of Perth

We were delighted to nominate our community volunteer Rose Tricoli for this special award.

Read what her nominators had to say: “Rose has been a committed volunteer for the last 27 years with the Morley Wednesday group. She has been linked with Joe Pinzone since 1996. Her dedication has not only been an inspiration to me but a beacon of unwavering support and inclusion. Rose’s ability to serve with an ever-present smile, regardless of circumstances, truly stands out. As a newcomer to the group and without local family, her support was immeasurable, enveloping my family to the extent that my children affectionately regard her as their ‘Italian Australian Granny’.

Rose’s warmth and openness go beyond cultural and physical differences, making her a pillar of support for those in need. Her thoughtfulness extends to Joe, whose fondness for dressing sharply is well-supported by Rose’s generous birthday gifts of clothing, ensuring he presents himself well at church and PAS gatherings. Understanding Joe’s lack of immediate family, Rose has generously brought him into her own, frequently inviting him over for morning teas or lunches, creating cherished memories for Joe.

During his health challenges, Rose’s visits have been a comfort; her presence requested by Joe himself. Even as Joe’s health has declined and conversation has become difficult, Rose’s patience and clear explanations continue to make meaningful connections, providing comfort and understanding within the limits of his abilities.” Roma Mascarenhas

“Joe has very little family who are involved with him. Rose has gone beyond anything PAS asks of their volunteers and has taken the place of his family, including him in family occasions and advocating for him with agencies.

She is a dedicated friend to Joe and his wellbeing and welfare is always her first concern. Rose is the sort of person who puts everyone before herself. She has been an amazing friend to all who have passed through the group over the years.

She develops long and lasting relationships due to her loving and caring nature. She and her family donate regularly to any event PAS has as well as many other charities. I couldn’t think of anyone more worthy to be the Volunteer of the Year.

The world is a much better place for having Rose Tricoli as a part of it, she makes a lasting impression on everyone she meets and I am honoured to call her my friend.” Robyn Farrands.
