Chinda and I were introduced to each other in 2014.
Over the years I have come to know Chinda as caring, helpful and a person full of questions especially about life after death. It was a lovely cool, sunny day when I met my friend Chinda in Midland for lunch this year. We hadn’t gotten together much because my wife had been unwell, so it was good to meet up again.
The pub that we normally visit has wonderful pasta, so Chinda had a bit of that along with a pint of light beer. Chinda used to wolf his beer down straight away, but lately he’s gotten into the habit of drinking a bit before the food arrives, drinking some during the meal and saving the rest to wash the food down at the end. After lunch, we drove up to Midland Cemetery.
A good friend of mine is buried there, so we found his grave and I told Chinda a bit about him. Afterwards, we walked around the cemetery, taking in the beautiful winter sunshine. At the activity sessions, Chinda usually likes grinding coffee, drawing, colouring and also enjoys the little discussions we have over our activity. He also likes to listen to the stories shared by the group in the celebration area and is proud to share his stories too.
When I’m on agape, he gives me a hand getting the food ready. Chinda also helps us clean up after sessions and he is our official vacuum operator. Chinda has figured out that God is not a bully, though he still has some strange notions about heaven and hell. It’s fair to say that Chinda and I are better persons for having met each other.
