Despite the grim weather that weekend, over 150 people gathered at Hughes Dining Room, Aquinas College for the Annual Community Celebration on Sunday 28 June – the most popular event of the year for our Friends and volunteers in PAS groups all over Perth.
This year’s theme of Under The Sea sparked some amazing creative arts – fabulous centrepieces graced some tables while others created thematic hats – toothy sharks and colourful crabs instantly marked out members of Morley Wednesday and Nollamara groups.
No ACC is complete without a themed photo backdrop and Rodney Mascarenhas was kept busy taking photos of all the groups in attendance.
Adam Penn from Tophat Enterprises entertained the crowd who energetically danced the morning away until a special mystery guest was announced.
In eager anticipation, attendees found their seats while the theme music from Jaws gave a clue to our floating mystery guest – a remote-controlled blowup shark who hovered menacingly above the crowd, snagging on an overhead wire until ironically ‘rescued’ by a human!
Visit over, it was time to tuck into the sumptuous food prepared by the Aquinas catering team – our dessert of blueberry cheesecake with its on theme blue jelly topping, starfish fairybread and shell chocolate was a highlight.
A last hurrah of dancing brought a great morning to a close and luckily the rain held off while our guests said goodbye and made their way out of the room and on their way home.
Below are some initial photos of the wonderful event – stay tuned for a full gallery of our Annual Community Event.
